Best mud tire in the rain??
It is time to change tires, had MT atz so far, great tires for my DD but not really good in the mud. I am looking for the best mud tires that will work if not great at least very well in heavy rains

I have Goodyear MTR Kevlars. They are excellent in rain, can't really tell any difference from stock SR-A tires. And I'm in Vancouver, so I know rain. Didn't have them in any serious mud, so can't comment on that. Shallower mud they did just fine.

No not yet. I've been told that with the two door in particular, it will need new shafts at some point. I started with 33's 2 yrs ago, started running 34.5"'s about 5 mos ago, haven't noticed any wear or problems with my drive shafts yet. So far so good.

Ahhh gotcha, I was just wondering because of the angle of the differential. I'm about to jump for 2.5" of lift to 3" and this whole driveshaft thing has me scratching my head hahah. But I have a 4dr so I hear its a little different story

yeah I am running RK adj lower control arms. The front is a bit longer over stock, and the rear is actually a bit shorter than stock to tilt the diff up a little to help correct the shafts angle.

Since you like the MT ATZ's have you tried the MTZ's? I've ran two sets of em with great results. Sold my last set (35") off my old TJ right before it was stolen to my brother who has them on his ZJ. I bet those tires have at least 60,000 miles on em! It has amased me how long those tires have lasted. They do excellent in the rain on a DD and in the mud!

I have the MT MTZ (35").
Very good in heavy rain. In an emergency evasive maneuver (hitting the brake and fast turning of the steering wheel), on ~1" of water on the road, at about 40~45mph, they behaved like it was dry asphalt.
In mud they grip well, didn't try real deep mud.
