Best lift/tire combo for mostly highway?
I've got an '08 JK that I'm looking to lift and put 33" tires on, but I'm going to use it as a daily driver on the highway. I was originally looking to put 17" AEV wheels with 33" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on it, but started to second-guess the tires. I live in the North East and will be driving in plenty of rainy/snowy conditions and the Baja Claws aren't siped. I need a radial but want an aggressive/sporty look. Any suggestions? How about a suspension lift? I was thinking 4" Rancho sport lift. Is that too much for highway use? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

4 inches of lift is way too much for 33's, IMHO. Honestly, if it's only for the highway and you don't plan on wheeling it, you could fit 33's with no lift at all. But, if you want to be a little taller I wouldn't go more than 2.5". Old Man Emu (ARB) has a 2" coil kit that should ride really nicely on the highway and will easily fit 33's. In the BB range, I love my Teraflex 2.5" budget boost. It drives great on the highway, was super easy to install and, again, would easily fit 33" tires.

I'm running 33s with a 1" spacer lift pending install. You don't need a lift though.

I'm assuming I should chance the axle ratio to 4.10 (currently 3.21 stock) and maybe install a Detroit TrueTrac in the rear differential, but are there any other mod's I need to be concerned with if I go the route of a BB or the Old Man Emu kit? Can I install a BB myself (having zero experience with auto mechanics)?

Strikes me that if the '07 & '08's will take 32" tires without mods, the straightforward step would be a 1'' to 2" bodylift. This keeps your running gear stock, and as designed, thus as ready for the highway as it is now. 33" tires might not require a change in diffs, but I leave that answer to others with more experience.

yeah 2.5" is plenty of lift for 33's. I have a 2.5" with 35's.
Truthfully it you want some off road look and good highway then go with aggressive 32" tires. With my 35" tires i get arounf 13-13.5 mpg so not great for street driving
