Default best lift to run 37s?

i am trying to figure out which lift i want put on my 2 door 6 speed x. i want to run 37s. it isnt a hard core rockcrawling rig, just my daily driver. any help would be much appreciated. as with most people money is a concern but i do know you get what you pay for so there is a happy medium in there somewhere.
one more request... for those that are running 37s with around a 4" lift, could you do me a favor and measure from the ground to the top of the top? i am trying to figure out if after the lift install is done i will be able to fit in my garage.

thanks alot!

i ran the full traction 4" lift with a 1" body lift and it worked out well with 37's - only minor rubbing at a full flex. i have also run a 4" teraflex lift (which measures closer to 5.25") and 37's and it was a good fit as well. the TF kit comes with tall bumpstop extension and so there was no rubbing but there is some reduced stuff. in any case, i was measuring about 6.10" to the top bow of my soft top. you should also note that different tires will measure differently. my measurements were based on toyo mt's which, from what i have seen, are the tallest 37's you can get.

thats cool. what gears should i get? i do a lot of highway driving and city driving with stop and go. there will be no rockcrawling but light trailriding but not too often. as for the measurement of the height of the jeep, the softtops seem to be taller than the hardtops. i remember with my soft top on i could put my hand in between the top bow and the soundbar/rollbar and with my hard top there is no space.. i am just curious because my garage entry is right around 82 1/2 " tall. so it will be tight but i really want to run 37s.

thanks

with 37's, you will want to run 5.13's. that will bring you back to about stock performance. as far as tops go, yes, the soft top bows sit higher than a hard top.

I'm running the 4" TeraFlex LA kit with 37's on mine. Drives great on the highway and on the trail. When I swap my rear out to a CRD60 I'm going with 5:38's.

i was told on the jp forum that i should not run a long arm suspension on my jeep because the stock jk arms are longer than the tj arms were and there is no need to run long arms. what do yall think about that? also how are your brakes holding up to the added weight of the 37s? i havent been able to find any kind of brake upgrades for jks besides new pads? i am only really looking on the quadratec and 4wd websites, so my scope is pretty limited.

thanks alot for answering all my questions.

what you were told is correct. while long arms are nice, they simply are not needed for a JK that is only running 4" of lift and 37's. i am running this setup now and can tell you that even before getting coilovers installed, my ride was great. as far as brakelines go, most 4" lift kits will come with new stainless steel extended lines.

what i am asking about brakes is.. are there any upgraded rotors / bads / calipers out there. since there is an increase in the rolling mass of the tires and wheels it is harder for the stock brakes to bring the jeep to a stop. is everyone running stock brakes (extended brake lines not included).

does that question make sense?

thanks very much.

sorry for missing it the first time around. as of now, no upgrades that i know of are available. however, i can tell you that the factory braking system is bigger than the old tj's and they work quite well even with 37's.
