You have a 4door, but didn't see if it's an auto or manual? At 3", the rear shaft should be fine. If you have an auto, you will want to flex and take a look at the front driveshaft/tranny/skid clearances. If it's a manual, the front should be ok. At 4.5, budget for replacing both.

At 3.5" on my 4door, I lost the front CV (at the tcase end of the shaft) at about 5k miles, but the big boot in the middle was fine, no contact with the tranny. Rear is still ok at 15k miles.

As WOL was mentioning, you will need a way to tilt the axles for each aftermarket driveshaft. This means a set of adj control arms. (that aev kit comes with a front lowering bracket that may handle the caster for the new front shaft. Or it may not. Don't know. But as noted, there is no provision in that kit for a new rear shaft.)

AEV 3.5" Premium. Just got it and love it. And, there is a Front Driveshaft now available for it through AEV. I know, I have it.

Interesting, thats the first bad thing I have heard about OME stuff...I like my TF 2.5 Coil lift for my weekend warrior, but best on road ride is going long arm for sure not to mention how awesome they preform offroad.

Also, is there a huge difference between a 3 and 4.5 inch lift in regards to handling and steering? Let me know what you all think, thanks.
In my honest opinion...I think a 4.5" lift will be over kill for you. Go with something a little smaller.

I have a 3.5" Rough Country and it's great! I did have to replace my front driveshaft (i have 4dr with auto). You could even go with a 2.5" lift.

I guess you need to decide what you will be doing and how much you want to spend. There are a lot of people in JK's running smaller lifts but chop their fenders or run with flat fenders to gain the extra clearance for larger tires.

This site is awesome for ideas and advice.....good luck with your build!!!

Wow.. don't think 2 ppl have answered the same.. LOL

I have the same question.. I'm looking at only about 2-2.5 lift w/ winch front bumper & aftermarket rear as well.. don't know that I'll ever run 35s... but 33s are a definate.. bigger if available within my price range.

Anyone have experience with multiple lifts? It's easy to love the lift you have, if it's the only lift you've ever had.. right?

I've seen some shocks that are adjustable.. I guess to plug a controller into 'em and hit a button.. would that be a good way to switch between on-road, and off road suspention for ride qualities sake?

sure, i've personally installed and run a teraflex 2.5", full-traction 3" ultimate lift, a teraflex 4" flex arm lift, OME HD lift, OME HD +40 lift, off road evolution short arm coil overs and off road evolution long arm kit with 14" coil overs. this is to say nothing of the various other lifts i have personally installed and tested on other jk's. having said all that, if you're only planning on running 33's, i would just install them can call it a day. sure, you will have some minor rubbing but not enough to really matter and, if you want to address them, simply install a leveling kit or 2.5" budget boost. both are cheap and will get the job done
