Best Cat-back system for the money?
So -
Given the relatively low cost of some of the cat-back exhaust systems on the market for the JK (that low cost comment would obviously exclude Borla ), I want everyone's opinion.
Since I already have the AIRAID CAI on, I'm looking to complete the "breather system" with a good exhaust set-up. I don't have tons of cash to spend, but may be able to beg, er, um, "convince" the wife to allow an exhaust mod, given the gas mileage increase that comes from a CAI/exhaust combo.
The question: What cat-back exhaust system is best for the JK, for the money, in YOUR opinion? The last thing I want is an import-sound on my JK. I was very impressed with the sound clips that Cool Tech just posted (using a Magnaflow muffler), and the price was right-on, but sadly, it doesn't look like they're offering their set-up for a 2-door...
Thanks for your opinions.

On another forum, Cooltech has a write-up showing their kit installed. Looks real clean, and relocates muffler to the mid-section of the jeep. Intro price is $299. I don't own it yet (since DC won't build my JK ), but it looks pretty good. No 2dr yet as you mentioned though.

I have the magna flow muff and like the sound but if the cool tech was out when i did the magna flow it would be cool tech all the way.it has the same magna flow muff and places the muff next to the frame rail with a heat shield.

The results are in.. I’ll keep this as short and sweet as I can..
Test and configurations were made to my 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4D Rubicon..
1st. Dyno run
Bone Stock = 198.7hp / 231.3tq
First we installed a Magna Flow True Dual Exhaust system keeping the stock catalytic converts in place..
2nd. Dyno run
Dual Exhaust System = 212.3hp / 241.1tq
Then we removed the dual system and re-installed the 2 into 1 collector and just ran a single back to a Magna Flow 6” x 18” muffler and then straight back..
3rd. Dyno run
Single Exhaust System = 213.8hp / 246.8tq
Obviously the Single System yielded much better results.. That is what stayed on.. And let me tell you the Sound is awesome..
Now the easy stuff AEM Brute Force Intake System.. Very Clean install..
4th. Dyno run
Single Exhaust System with AEM intake = 220.1hp / 250.7tq
Last but not least.. We installed the Jet Performance Stage II chip.. My initial thought process on this one was I wasted my money.. But the Dyno tell the truth..
5th Dyno run
Single Exhaust with AEM intake and Jet Performance Stage II chip
Final Results = 231.9hp / 258.8tq
Overall Gains = 33.2 HP / 27.5 TQ
Maybe to some this was a big waste of time but what the heck free use of a dyno and some spare time and some great Manufacture support.. Take these results as you may..
I will work on getting some pictures up on the exhaust relocation and intake install…I will also work on getting the dyno slips posted up.. Thanks Jay

his numbers are not whp. He probably used a mustang dyno that tries to correct for drivetrain losses and give flywheel numbers.
Here is a link to my intake dyno that I did on a Dynojet 248C yesterday. It baselined at 156 whp and almost 163 whp with the intake.
