my only concern with running beadlocks that are not DOT approved would be in the event of an accident. you know an insurance adjuster would take any loophole to not pay out a claim.

 

I've been running Aev pilntler beadlocks for a few months now with no problems.
I highly doubt the police would even notice. And if they do notice then they will prob appreciate your rig.

 

Thank you all for you input on the Beadlocks! Looks like I'm gonna pull the trigger and buy myself a set of spyderlock wheels and enjoy them every second of it!

I thought the web site said $360 each? Let me know what kind of price you end up with.

 

I run AEV's (DOT standard) on my DD with no problem. I just check the torque on the bolts after every run. One problem with beadlocks though is that you will have to search a little harder for places that will help you if you have issues. I found that a lot of the big chain tire dealers don't want anything to do with beadlocks.

 

Another AEV user here with 37" KM2s. I use Dyna Beads in mine and they balance just fine. I do a 5 tire rotation every 3k miles. I have about 24k on them so far with no issues.

 

I just realized that I hadn't posted back yet. The Spyderlocks are awesome! Duh... I will say that they are heavy (45 lbs each, roughly), so the Jeep feels more sluggish. Of course, throwing 35"s on there didn't help that either, but I'm very pleased overall. At some point I'll get some new gears.

The Airsoft BBs balanced them perfectly as far as I can tell. They are Nitto Mud Grapplers, and consequently are pretty rough (and loud as crap). I got the tires used, and it was such I good deal that I couldn't pass it up, otherwise I wouldn't be running such an aggressive and loud tire.

I mounted the tires myself, which apparently some folks have issues finding someone to mount them (presumably for liability reasons), but you can do it yourself if you take your time and expend a lot of elbow grease.

 

I'm thinking of one day getting a set of beadlocks... Is there ever a issue of the tire popping off on the inside of the wheel... Again very néw ti this... I'm just curious how the beadlocks keeps both sides from popping off ?

 

Glad to hear your liking your new wheels. Those are aome nice ones too. Yeah, the mounting process is tedious but after the first one is done it is kind of enoyable.

 

Once the innner bead is set it is tough to break it loose.
