Hey all!
Quick question to all you guys and gal with c gussets
I am in need of balljoints..I have a set of synergys sitting on my desk..I feel confident to install myself after reading a few threads and woods youtube video.
I am not confident at welding
My question is do the gussets need to be welded when the ball joints are removed? Or can I take it to my local auto shop I trust to weld them in before or after ball joint change
I have not ordered gussets but Northridge canada carriea evo artec and a few others iv seen
I recently bought I cheap welder to try to learn a bit more (lil experence from highschool shop years ago) its a 110v mig .take gas and or flux wire..almost positive not strong enough but could be wrong

Have the gussets welded in and then change your bj's. If your shop is careful they can save the old bj's from completely burning up when they weld in the gussets but if the shop isn't too far from your house then I would just let them get to it and then drive home and do your bj's.

I did the Synergy ball joints today. I wouldn't call it a simple thing to do but not hard. Lots of great write ups and videos to follow out there. I had to use a 4lb and cap to bang the upper in and get it to seat properly. Also I faced my lower zerk towards the back. I am able to grease it but I think pointing it ahead might have been wiser. Really tightened things up. Stock ones were shot and only had 30k miles on em.

I had the gussets welded in and did ball joints that weekend..I bought the cheap press from princess auto( I think harbour freight equivalent here in Canada). I have already opened and removed everything to do the axle u joints few weeks ago, so everything came apart easy.

I am going to need to do this soon I would guess. I am still on stock ball joints at 110,000 km and I run 37" MTR's
I had the gussets welded in over 2 years ago and obviously we kept the ball joints cool enough not to damage them.
