Default Backspacing Question

Just bought a new set of wheels, it has 5.13 backspacing. Sorry I am a newbie at this 4wd stuff. I am putting atleast a 3" lift kit on before I actually put the wheels on? Will I need spacers or what. I have read that you have to have 4.50 backspacing or less. Hope someone can shed some light on this ????

4.5" or less backspacing would be better.

get wheel spacers and you should be alright. ideally, you want 4.5" or less, i've been running 4" bs for a while now, and it's been great

What size tires? (and which wheels are they? I hadn't heard of any with that particular bs)

All stock rims have a 6.25" BS. Your new wheels will push the tires a bit over an inch further out. So if you go with a narrower tire, 10-11", you should be ok. Going with a 12.50 or wider tire is where you'll have more issues with rubbing and need to run spacers.

Also browse the Wheels & Tires section here when you have a chance:

Lots of good info on backspace and wheel spacers, lift heights for various tire heights, etc.

haha well I picked up a set of 20" rockstars for a really good deal. They are 20x 8.5 and I looked the bs up and I am pretty sure it said that they are 5.13 but I could of read them wrong. I hate to go with spacers but I have to what I have to do.

I wanted 4.50 backspacing but the wheel only came in 4.75,im running bfg km2's 35x12.50x17 as i know some have used.I have not had it at full flex and full turn so the verdict is still out ,but i dont think i will be in too bad of shape, possibly some light rubbing but nothing to worry about, fingers crossed anyway!

I have 17x9 cragar soft 8s with 35x12.5x17 km2s, with 5 inch back spacing and no rubbing issues even aired down to 15psi at full flex. My rear sway-bar links are mounted on the outside and my rear axle is perfectly centered.
