Hi,

I'm planning on ordening raceline wheels with the Goodyear 38x14,5x17 tires. I find them a little width, but 38's don't come in other a sizes.

I'm running dynatracs (standard oem width) and I would like to know what the recommended backspace is on the wheels. Raceline wheels have a variety of backspace depths.

The 'thoughts on lifts' thread, stuck right to the top of this modified area, has some general info on backspace vs tire size. 2.5" maybe?

38x14.5's require the same setup as 40's due to the additional width. I think guys with 40's typically shoot for 2.25-2.5" of backspacing, several of whom achieve this with the addition of spacers.

Dennis Woord from teraflex runs the same wheel setup as I would like to buy. He seems to have 3,75" backspace. I assume he did his homework and I can follow his lead.

My only other concern is the 14,50 width of the tire. Isn't that too much?

Dennis Wood has a full custom setup, which includes wider than stock axles (he gave me a tour of his rig about a month ago).

I have 3.5" of back space and 37x12.5 tires and rub the frame. If you are running a D60 front and full float rear, you are probably fine to run spacers. If not, that is way too much stress on the wheel bearings.

Check out the Nemesis frame notch kit. Notch the frame, get wider axles, or get 37s. I guess you could limit the steering.

The extra inch in height gets you nothing. If you're going to do the work for those tires, just get some 40s.

You need to net out at around 1.5" bs compared to the facatory wheels or run a big lift with lots of bump stop on factory width axles. Wheel width and shock travel and the amount of bump stop you are running will all be factors on if you will rub or not.
