Axle work questions
Going to give the nitro sleeves a shot soon and had a couple of questions. I read everyone says to clean out your axle tube. How the hell do you clean out an axle tube? Any recomended tool? Also going to change to ARB diff covers. is that install as easy and straight forward as it seams? Anyone know the torque number for thise bolts and the capacity of the front and rear D44 for fluid?

only thing i can comment on is the diff cover install.
its stupid easy. remove old diff cover, completely clean the axle surface, put a liberal bead of whatever gasget material you are going to use on, install new diff cover.
i personally went back with the fluid amount that was called for from the factory and havnt had any problems. at the time i wasnt aware that i may need more / less depending on the differences in the diff cover.

Nitro sleeves...google search there are some good write ups.
I know you will need a BFH and a race or seal driver so the end doesn't mushroom. Some have put the sleeves in the freezer or dry ice overnight.

Thanks. Watched a few videos and doesnt look too bad.
Still need torque numbers on the diff cover bolts and the capacities if different than owners manual.
Thanks

torque and fluid level
Hey
Torque to 30 ft-lb
front diff 216 FBI (Model 40) - Front Axle MOPARŽ Gear & axle Lubricant SAE 80W-90 1 Quart - 04874468 2.7 Pints 1.3 Liters
rear diff ♦/♦♦♦♦ 226 RBI (Model 44) Rear Axle MOPARŽ Gear & axle Lubricant SAE 80W-90 (1 Quart - 04874468) 4.75 Pints 2.25 Liters
♦ Limited-Slip Rear Axles require the addition of 118 ml (4 oz.) MOPARŽ Limited Slip Additive.
♦♦♦♦ If equipped with Trailer Tow package use MOPARŽ Synthetic Gear Lubricant, SAE 75W-140 (04874469AA)
When I do this job I always change the frt fluid 80W-90 is cheap $7-8/L. For the rear I drain the fluid into an clean 2L soda bottle and put it back in if it is clean and in good condition mainly because 75-140($35/L) and an additive($12) kind of a waste of money to just change if it is still in good condition.
