Would it be possible to buy a 2WD Unlimited and throw in an Atlas transfer case and a Rubicon front axle (with the driveshafts)? Is there anything else missing? Would this system work? BLD?

I had the same set up as you, Dana 30 (you don't have a 35 up front) up front and Dana 44 rear with 4.10 gears. Since the gears are the same you will have no issues, of course you will only have lockers on the new front 44's.

if its a real electric switch controled locker the axle swap sounds ideal verses just the gear and locker addon to the d30 on the x front. i would have to regear anyway i guess though
The lockers are electric switch controlled. You should only have to regear if you don't already have 4.10's.

Hope this helps,
Pete

Is there a part # for the axle without a carrier/gears.......or even one for just an open housing without the outers?

sounds like you are confusing the Auburn Ected with the Eaton E-Locker. Those are 2 different companies. Eaton did recently assimilate TrachTech which built the detroit locker, truetrac, electrac and the EZ-locker and added most of those to their lineup.

Default Electrical wiring

I have both axles on and have all my switches ready to wire up the lockers. What I am still looking for is a water tight connecter to mate to the male end that comes out of the axle. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction. Part numbers would be a big help.

Thanks in Advance,
Pete

This is a great thread.. i have an "X" with the Dana 44 rear, and the limited slip..

I can change out the Dana 30 ft axle and install the Rubi 44.. I am wondering if I only will have to change the ft. drive shaft to match the Rubi 44..??

And my rear locker is factory.. Limited slip I think.. Not electronically controlled??

Or is it??? I wonder if I could wire both together on one switch ?? Hmm, the possibilities...

I'm in the process of doing this swap as well. However, I'm attempting to wire the lockers as close to factory as possible. I've collected some factory parts and here's what I have so far.

Front Locker Harness: P/N 52104603-AB...$30.00
Rear Locker Harness: P/N 52104605-AB...$35.00
Cab Switch Panel: P/N 4602508-AE...$25.00

You'll at least have the correct connector for the locker, but where the two harnesses connect from there...I have no friggin clue!!! I'm in the process of trying to contact Mopar to find out if the existing vehicle wire harness has the neccessary connection points for the axle wire harnesses.

No need to change out the driveshaft. The yokes are the same.

I used to be in agreement with this statement and have run a rear locker and open front in 2 of my Jeeps. I now have a selectable locker in front with an open rear and am having GREAT success. The front locker allows me to get one front tire against a rock or ledge and just climb up. With the assist of the BLD, I can usually use just a little momentum to get the rear up too. It's still a valid debate, but I'm leaning more toward the front locker being the better first upgrade for the JK, at least in the longer wheelbase Unlimited.
