Default So if I have 3.21 this is a great route

So with the Rubi D44 that includes the 4.10 gears right. I like many others bought my jk off the lot with 3.21 before I knew better so now I am looking for routes to fix this. 3k is only a little more than quotes I'm getting to regear. Granted that would be 4.88 but this route I get both d44 and lockers. Seems like the route to go if all pans out.

any idea how hard it is to add the factory locker to the existing d44 that comes on the rear of the sahara and x. would it be worth buying the complete d44 with the locker already in it of the rear or just having the factory locker added to the d44 that came with the jeep?

You'd also have to upgrade axle shafts. The Rubi ones are a different spline count (can't remember what).

I'm up in vermont the shops I've talked with want over $1500 in labor alone so it makes the regear way too expensive

wow...they must have a lock on the deals there, check with your dealer as My local said 1500 would include labor and parts.

I found a local guy here that did them for 300 in labor

I called 4 dealers in my area and none of them can even give me a price on the Dana 44 front axle. They said that they can't look it up without the last 9 digits of a Rubicon VIN. I am amused and appalled at the inventory program that these people are using. If my warehouse ran this way, the whole facility would shut down!

Does anyone have a part number for the axle? How are those of you with Saharas and X's getting these quotes? Are your dealers a little smarter than the idiots I have been dealing with?

I would rather have a built 44 over a 60 for clearance reasons. I wheel with a couple of guys who have full width 60's front and rear and they are always hanging up on rocks, even with 40" tires. I think that with the stock motor, you should not have any problems at all with a high pinion 44 with some alloy axle shafts.
