Lol i know. Thats why i got d80 axles and only the 5.3 L instead of the LS9 my brain kept saying to buy. I know me. I would be forced to test its full power and then fix the damage that WILL ovcur later. I limited my HP to reduce my damage potentials

I get chills when i hear the word rebuilt.

Maybe its the bad experiences i have had in the past that give me that reaction now thx to Autozone altinators and starters. The word warranty does make it better but they had that also and u were guarenteed to need it with those parts.

This is my personal problem and not urs.

When u add the driveline shafts and the install labor with warrantee, it does sound like a great deal. U dont have to convince me of how good the salvage parts are if rebuilt correctly. I believe u. Do i think new axles are bling only. No, well Some, but not all. Do i want to trade one chinese made axle for another chinese made axle-no

I do believe u get what u pay for. I looked long and hard on this forum and dont recall anyone saying "this dynatrac axle sucks" anywhere. (Right now some is doing just that to prove me wrong).

If u build those axles well and deliver on the warranty when a failure does occur, u will get the price u want for that upgrade. Old school stock axles earned their place. The newer stock axles impress me less.

I get your side but the whole cheaper is cheaper to me isnt necessarily true. Many koh/dirt riot competitors run 14 bolts and such. Parts are easier to find usually and for what 99 percent of people need an axle to do its overkill so why pay a ton more when a 14b or sterlings may be plenty and cost half? If money is no concern then id debate it but to many people it is.

Mopar 60's can use the existing drag link, and tie rod. You do need to add in 1350 drive shafts and a new master cylinder, brake booster and e brake cables aren't included in the 11.5k price tag. So after you add in everything you're talking about another 1500-1800 in parts depending on which drive shafts you go with. So you're priced about the same as those. But mopar isn't offering any sort of warranty on them.

Up here in Canada a dealership quoted me $15,200 USD for the Mopar 60s. That's without our 13% tax and all the others pieces needed mentioned above.

Jeep JK parts are expensive in the states but in Canada it's just outrageous.

My point i was getting to got lost in all my wording

If u are shopping for ready to install units only-not do all the fab work to make it fit but they are turn key.

20 yr old used but rebuilt and cleaned up d60 axle set installed with 12 month/12k miles warranty for around 13k

Or mopar brand new d60 set ready to bolt in also with a warranty for around 11k plus install labor. Install labor will prolly bring price to same as other option.

Of ONLY these two options, which one would u choose?

I know that 20 yrs of abuse and stress on a housing can make for interesting results. Stress cracks, bent tubes, bent c's, ovaled or deformed ball joint/king pin holes. All of that has to be investigated and corrected if present and the correction is as only good as the persons skills who fixed it or missed it.

U start talking sterlings and 14b, which i believe are even more stout than d60, then my discussion is no longer relevant because it is no longer an apples to apples discussion.

As far as people getting more axle than they need, yep. Ur right. Buying less axle than u need doesnt make sense. Buying an axle that is juuuussssttt good enough is fine unless u change ur build later or ur driving style and now what u have may no longer be adequate.(forgive my spelling-its not my best skill! Lol). When and if i sell my jeep, the axles will be transfered to my new jeep, so i am planning for a future jeep that may be bigger and heavier(prolly an aev brute truck model)

The sterling or 14b is only cheaper if u are doing all the work to modify and rebuilt it urself. If u dont have the time or desire to do that kind of work, that means u have to pay someone else-a shop most likely, to so all that rebuild and modification pls the parts to do it for u. Is it still SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper then...i doubt it. Is it cheaper than what i bought, yes most likely. I bought what i wanted, not just what i needed.

If ur asking me if i look down on who install rebuilt axles-i certainly do not. I have great respect for them, i know the amount of work that went into that project. Alot. Work i had no desire to go thru. I just want to pay more and have it ready to go now and basically lazyness costs more money.

I totally agree with you on these points. I'm like you, these days I don't want to hassle with all the electronic Bullshit and have to troubleshoot engine lights, codes. I realized this when I paid to have my engine done and new my knowledge was sub par on understanding the electronics. I've always enjoyed doing all this myself including the gears and axles. I will buy an aftermarket front soon because of the reasons you stated. This is a good thread without a big fight.
