Had the mopar 60s been out at the time i was looking at dynatrac models, i might have gotten the mopars just for the plug and play aspect as well as half price. The 60s also have more gear choices available. 538 is lowest gear that fits, same as d44. D60 has gear sets much lower for more power.

Gotta order lockers because stockers wont have them. They also have the tools and the skills to set up ring and pinion because its never a matching gear set to the other axle.

Dynatracs are a proven, turn key system with a warranty. Also built with better components, not the cheapest vendor at time of production like stock parts. Also made from USA sourced parts and materials. The housing and tubing is 2-3times more durable and has reinforcement in known weak areas that the stockers have. The center section has already been undercut to improve clearance.

Thats why. Cheaper is usually just that, cheaper. These guys specialise in axles. Im done with building junkyard heros that i have to keep fixing my fixes. I want bulletproof reliability and durability and im willing to spend damn near whatever it takes to get what i want.
Ok good points. I might have mistaken you for someone else. I though you had the mechanical ability and knowledge to easily do something like that.

I can do alot as long as fab or body work isnt involved. My problem is time and desire. The 2 days a week that i get to sleep at my house i dont want to spend becoming an axle expert. Mechanic work was fun to me 25 yrs ago. Its not anymore. Its hot outside with wasps and black widow spiders. I want to be in the jeep rolling, not under it sweating. I just want to drive the silly thing built the way i want it. If i didnt have trust issues with "we will mod it for u" shops, i would have had them do it. My problem with these shops is that they are not concerned about my property, they just have another unit to hurry up and get it done and out the door so they can get paid. Sometimes it comes out ok, sometimes it looks rushed and things were missed or corners were cut because they knew u would never find out. I know that everything i touch on my jeep will be right and reliable when im done with it. I even got some education here on the forum regarding 4 link setups. Having spent most of my life working on older chevys and pontiacs, this has been interesting. I also have alot of experience troubleshooting multipoint fuel injection systems and emmissions. I was doing LS swaps in 2002 before it was the popular thing to do.

Going inside Carburators, automatic transmissions and axle assemblies, i leave that to people that have the unique tools and skills to set up properly so that it doesnt need to be fixed or set up again later. Gotta know ur limits.

If ur the person who wants to build ur jeep from scratching up parts at a junkyard and building it urself-pls do and document it on a thread. I love reading about those while im in a hotel room somewhere accross the country. I really do! Everybody loves to admire a hand built rig vs a bought rig. Mine will be somewhere inbetween.

Im just trying to see if they would sell. Thanks again Kyle
Kyle, the real question becomes, can u find the axles that are suitable for upfit, perform the upgrades and then turn around and sell them for less that what other companys like mopar are selling them for new and u still make a profit that makes it worthwild?

How reliable will ur supply be from the salvage yards be? Can they keep providing the same make and model axle assembly week after week?

If it came to u selling a pair of rebuilt salvage yard stock axles built up and bolt on for jeep jk for 10k and mopar is selling brand new plug and play models match sets for around 11k. What would u choose?

How much price difference would be needed to make that desirable to go the used rebuilt route?

Last year this wouldnt have been an issue but with Teraflex jumping in, and now mopar undercutting them, the profit margin is dropping fast.

I am interested in hearing ur take on it. I sometimes feel like a dream killer....maybe even a jerk....but thats not how i wanted it to be....i like to bounce ideas off the "reality check" board and see if a plan like this is even feasable. Anyone can do a thing and sell it. Not many can do it every day and still turn a profit. I hope the best for u regardless of the decision.

Good point. Although I can appreciate a truly built-up rig, majority of the time I just want something that's durable, built/mfg well, & that I can rely on. I don't mind paying a premium for piece of mind. That's not for just Jeep parts either. I work hard for my $. I'm not here to spend it on cheap throw-away goods.

Yes Mopar has a good deal for axles but I'm looking at 13k (don't hold me to this number it may change) for complete axles, steering, brakes, drivelines, and installed in your jeep with a 12 month 12k mile warranty, all the customer needs to do is drop off the jeep and pick a new set of wheels. As for axles they are very easy to find if you know where to look I by no means plan on taking this wholesale thats why G2, PR, TF, Mopar are using their own housings because the old D60 has not been in production for almost 20years so yes its not readily available but they are still out there .

As for new vs old the new is bling, you get barging rights super strong. The old is proven it uses off the shelf parts from any parts house coast to coast, super strong with stronger options available, the after market supports them better more lockers, axle shafts chromoly and 300m axle shafts, knuckles and inner c's, covers, steering arms- crossover, high steer, reverse high steer.

You have had junk yard one tons that failed?

The plan is using the stock housing, spindles, knuckles, wheel hubs , and caliper brackets the rest would be new with a warranty.

It was you I was thinking about. I figured with you doing your own engine swap then yiu definitely had the know how and capability to knock out some built axles pretty easy. But I understand your time situation and just wanting to enjoy the jeep. Makes sense. I wasn't implying anything negative towards you in any way if that's how it may have come across.

Have i had one tons that failed, yes. Twisted the removable axle shaft on passenger rear. Failed bearings in outer hub Pinion bearing failed. Twisted tube in third member housing. Impressive to look at later. Scary at the time.

I have had an old dually with bb454 Also had a single wheel one ton, Both trucks suffer the biggest problem tho-the driver. Me.

U give me the keys and i promise i can fail any part. Its a gift really.

As i was typing this, i remembered the smell of old burnt gear oil and was trying not to reflex gag from the immagined smell. Appearently my memory for that odor comes in 3d smellavision.

Second worse smell is opening up a 30 yr old sbc 350 that still has its original oil still in it that has turned into grease over the years....what a horrible smell....gack!!.🙊💩

Me and you drive the same way. But stock tons and aftermarket tons can and will break the same way if pushed hard enough.
