I like the 4:10 ratio and is what I have been wanting as this will be my DD and wheeling about 10 times a year. Im never planning on running more than 35's.

You could put a locker in it for $1500. There is really no difference between the factory rubi 44 and 30 in terms of axle tube strength and durability. You can buy the parts and strengthen your existing axle for $500 (assuming you weld). Toss in a locker for another $1500 and you are sitting at $3500.

I'm not advocating for spending a bunch of money on a d30.

If you can get your buddy to knock $1000 off it is a more palatable deal in my opinion.

The problem you have is the axles you'll be removing are a dime a dozen and you'll be lucky to get $1000 selling them.

Just my opinion. I'd push for a price reduction. When I spend 5g's I really want to make it count.
Ok thank you, im thinking about just asking to pull the gears and locker out of the rear and put it in mine since thats the only difference. Or maybe just ask for the price reduction.

I thought the axle shaft were different on the rubicon vs non rubicon.
I have found it is not always the best to buy higher dollar stuff from good friends as sometimes it can cause a rift in friendships if something were to go wrong. You can get crate rubicon axles for less than that and if only wheeling a few times a year might be better off just regearing and throwing in a locker on your present axles.

Rubi rear end is different than non-rubi. 32 spline shafts vs 30 spline. If I recall correctly the carrier/locker wont work in your rear end.

Nope, you cant use a rubi locker in a non rubi 44.

I ran 35's on 4.10. Its not that great. Just switched to 4.88 on 35's. Its a little low, but I'm getting 37's in a few months. I'd look at some of the gear ratio charts for your specific jk (depending on motor)

I say 5k for that entire setup is a great deal! Especially considering the front axle is already beefed up a little bit. I paid a little over 5k for a set of F&R Rubi Dana 44's with 5.38 gears and Riddler diff covers. The front was trussed, sleeved, and gusseted along with LCA skids and RCV axle shafts. The rear had chromoly shafts. There's no need to spend all of the extra money on PR's if you only do light to moderate wheeling. I too am running the Rock Krawler 2.5 X-Factor. Its performance is absolutely fantastic, and the ride is terrific with the Bilstein shocks as well. My Sahara was ordered with 4.10 gears from the factory. I have 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers and the 4.10 gears pulled it along just fine. I have F&R AEV bumpers with tire carrier, rock sliders, and a Warn Zeon 10-S winch...so I do have some weight on there. 6th gear on the highway was no problem. I could set the cruise, and not have to worry about it.
