Default Aussie in dana 30 install. Is this normal?

Im almost done putting everything back together and I wanted to make sure if this was normal or not.

There is tiny bit of play in the carrier when moving it back and forth. and slight play in the shafts.

Iv never done this before and just not sure how much play there is suppose to be. And before i put it back together and grenade something, i wanted to make sure if i should try again, or keep going.

Hard to tell from the video, but if you were rolling the ring up and down making that sound then that is normal. That is called backlash and you have to have some. After you install the endcaps some of it might go away but you should never have zero backlash.

Did you (OP) use the directions with the locker? I am just curious if it is hard. Thanks

just make sure you have a good vice, a torque wrench, and a 3/16th punch. everything else was basic hand tools and just removing the brakes.

the above are for a tj but it is almost 100% the same.
