Default Atlas II: 4.3 or 5.0

I have a 6 speed X and am wanting an atlas but have been debating on the 4.3 or the 5.0. What do y'all think?

I think you ought to save yourself a crapload of money, get an New Venture Gear 241OR (Rubicon 4:1) which is a direct bolt-on for $1,299, and use the leftover funds to regear your differentials.

Good idea except no twin stick. Once you have a twin stick you'll never go back.

Dyna, not everyone needs a twin stick t-case, nor can everyone afford one. Based on the OP's spec list, I personally believe his money would be better spent elsewhere, but, whatever.

The OP asked about ratios for an Atlas. Since I have no idea of how or where he wheels, any response about a ratio would be a guess. Your comment about a Rubi T-case could be correct but he didn't ask about other options. My reply was only to inform about a significant difference the OP would see if he purchased a Rubi case.

I do no snow wheeling...it is too cold for me and i live about 4 hours from sand...so no sand wheeling and i dont know if cars are allowed to drive in the sand there.... I do the technical stuff...rocks and trees and what not...other words a lot of clutch work. I plan to go to 37's when my current tires wear out. my dads answer to keep from stalling is "give it more gas"... I like to creep over rocks, not jump over them lol.

well...I drove Lo2aY's rubi on the street but he has 42's and 5.38's. I might be able to get a ride from Marine on here. He has 37's and 5.38's on his rubi. other than that, thats all i know. I am sure there are others.

I found that with the 4:1 and 5.13s, it was very good with 37s, amazing with 35s, and still works quite well with 40s.
Lo2aY is a 6 spd and marine is an auto i believe.... I have the money to do what ever, I just want to do it right the first time.

IMO, being on rock/tree trails, up here in the East Coast, we try to achieve 90:1-100:1. Any lower than that, no wheel speed and high RPMs. We're not one for using 5th and 6th gear when wheelin. 1-3 gear TOPS.

With the 5.0:

With 4.88s, you'd be at 108:1
With 5.13, you'd be at 114:1

With the 4.3:

With 4.88s, you'd be at 93:1
With 5.13s, you'd be at 98:1

Now, depends on tire size.
