Default Artec Armor Axle Kit

Considering the Artec Armor Axle kit for dana 30. Anyone have and like? Did you sleeve and replace ball joints in addition? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Just got mine done. Balljoints are required if you're completing the C-gusset weld on's. I sleeved mine also.

Looking good! Are those Fox 2.0's? Did you install yourself or take somewhere and if so cost? I bought sleeves/gussets (teraflex) and synergy ball joints. Debating on the Artec but think I will go that route. I don't think I need entire artec kit if I have the gussets with the teraflex package.

If you sleeve, do it before you truss or gusset. If the tubes move at all, the sleeves won't go in.

You'll pay a sick amount of labor for a truss if you can't weld it yourself. Personally, I'd only trust myself to weld a truss in. Someone has to actually care to not end up with a warped housing when they're done. Sort of defeats the purpose.

Would def. defeat the purpose. What about chromoly kits installation?

Had mine done without ball joints and did the C's as well.

Didn't do the sleeves as I don't think I need them.

The welder is a Jeeper and does a lot of these, so no worries.

The Steering Stabilizer is a Fox 2.0, but i have Bilstein shocks. I had it done by a local jeep shop, which put the sleeves in first then welded the truss and C-gussets.

Truss - Artec
Sleeves - Synergy
C-Gussets - Artec
LCA Skids - Artec
Balljoints - Synergy
Axle Seals - Synergy

$1400 installed. Canadian.

I could not find a single person that would even consider this, due to the fact the factory balljoints are plastic inside. The welding melts the plastic then the balljoints are toast. I happen to need new balljoints anyway, so it worked out for me.

Going to weld in my truss my self. How do I not warp my housing ? Weld for short periods? Wet rag on the housing? Any info on this would be great. Thanks.

That says enough to know you probably shouldn't be welding a truss on.

Assuming you're determined to do it - wet rag is the opposite if what you want to do. Weld short beads (maybe an inch or so) and then move to the other end of the axle. Keep moving around to the cold areas. Careful not to build too much heat in the housing. Lastly, use welding blankets to slow the cooling. You want it to cool nice and slow.

If you're not experienced in controlling heat, reasonable chance your axle will be smiling when you're done. Highly recommend building a jig for it to out reverse pressure on the tubes.

Be sure to switch wire or stick when you get to the cast. Preheat, but don't over heat.
