Anyone running 35s on stock gears...

Wow. What a fantastic rant!
I will probably be the first to run 35s on 3.21s and drive to a shop far away to have 4.88's installed. If I ever get to save up that much money... For now I'm running 32's on 3.21 and will move up to 33s.

I changed my post to read inaccurate, not useless. All of your opinions matter but you have to be driving similar vehicles in similar circumstances for the info to more usefull.
My point is that your jeep with 37in mud tires on beadlocks with armor etc needs gears. It would drive like a POS without them. No argument here.
Mine with 4.10 gears, superchip, alloy wheels, light 35s and no bumper etc - DOES NOT.
You can argue whether or not CAI, exhaust and tuner should have been done instead of gears- all I am saying is that my current setup doesn't need gears. I dont need to light my tires up from stoplight to stoplight or have my RPMs higher on the freeway. My setup works for me.
It would be like me telling you to drop a hemi in your jeep. You dont have to drive one to know that it will perform better. Cost, warranty and performance gained per dollar also factor in to the decision. Same with gears.

I'm running 35s with the stock 4:10 gears and a manual tranny.
On flat interstate I can use 6th no prob. Slight incline, go to 5th... steep hill sometimes requires 4th.
I think I'd be happier with 4:88s, but it's not so bad to justify the cost now.
I'll hold off in case I graduate to 37" tires and then gear to 5:13s.

Interesting that you think the experience of the following 72 people who drove stock gears and later regeared and you think their experience is useless:
08redJKnCA, aldaman, Bamabanjo, blockrockin, BlueBruin, BOSS, CA-JK, capt scotty, captjay, chip80, Chuck Bullitt, def9112, Dewayne, dublinwheeler, fish, Fishyguy, Flash1034, frankie945, Gasser, HarryHood1, High-Roller, jbuck, jeeperaf, Jeepin Ass Chris, jkrubi09, joe002, joeybear, KenB1010, LaxAHolic, lockness75, lvdoug, Marine, meatsandwich, meljr, mikes310, mkjeep, Mowabb, Mr.ZAP, NGINIER, nthinuf, nvrenuff, Piginajeep, planman, pulman01, racejfr, racerx, RCJeeper, rcwade, Rebel Heart, REL1203, RIPPMODS, river2c, seairland, seer1, SGT., sikjeep, spinlock, SRJK, stangjeeper, Steel Rain, StevieRay, Stuka, TeraFlex, TjbRubi, Trick Cyclist, vogeljk, wayoflife, wells, woodweavil, wytmike, young01, zoeydad
Only 1 of the "no" voters has actually regeared, and he made the mistake of regearing an automatic to 4.88s instead of 5.13s or 5.38s.
How could anyone have a valid opinion about the value of spending $1000-$1500 to regear without actually having driven a rig on 35s with stock gears and then later regeared?
The only opinion they could have is whether or not it was bearable with stock gears.
They have absolutely no valid basis for an opinion on whether the regear is worth $1000.
I would go so far as to say it would be a good bet to wager the $1000 cost of a regear that anyone with 35s on stock gears who regeared to 4.88s with a 6 speed or to the lowest possible with an automatic (5.13s with a non-Rubi or 5.38s with a Rubi) would believe it was worth the cost compared to other upgrades where the $1000 could be allocated.
My purpose in the poll is to encourage fellow JK owners to not "fear the gear" and to onsider allocating part of their funds towards a regear instead of "pretty parts" that don't materially increase performance either on or offroad.
Do you really believe buying $300+ each tires and $200+ each wheels is preferable to spending $1000 on a regear and buying the same brand $200 each tires and $100 each wheels?
Do you really believe that spending $309 on a programmer, $480 on an exhaust, and $250 on a cold air intake is preferable to spending the same money on regearing?
Do you really believe that lifting your rig an extra 1" that is unnecessary to run 35s so that you end up having to spend $1000 on driveshafts is preferable to running a 3" lift and allocating the driveshaft money on a regear?
Do you really believe that a regear would be $1000 wasted?
Would you like a chance to drive a rig that has been regeared so you can experience the difference?

So from your odd's it may very well be better, but I am happy and have the $1500 sitting my my pocket. IF I went to 37's then I'd say yes for sure.

3.73 6 speed here with 35s . Hypertech and cold air intake. I was in sand today and at a dead stop 4 wheel drive not stuck at all I was bogged. engine stopped because I had no power!!!!! I had to drive 4 low to even get my jeep to move in flat land. I even live in low altitude 650ft elevation in Oklahoma. I took my jeep to Colorado at 12k in the mountains and couldn't even keep speed limit getting passed by semis! So hopefully this tells you that re gear is a necessity! I plan on getting 4.88 asap! It was ridiculous trying to move in sand with Baja claws with stock gears not to even MOVE!
