Default Anyone here chipped their 2.8 CRD?

Am thinking about getting mine chipped after recently installing 33s. No loss of power from doing that but a little more couldn't hurt..

Anyone else already done this? Which one did you go for and what were the results like?

No experience with the JK diesel, but turbo-diesels in general respond very well to being chipped.

No experience here either. But I did look up some info on the website of Ziptuning, a Dutch chip tuning specialist with a good reputation. I'll translate what they have to say:

"We chip-tune your Jeep Wrangler 2.8 crd 177 hp by means of a software-update. The new chip is an optimized version of the original chip software. By using the OBD2 diagnose plug, the Jeep Wrangler 2.8 crd can be tuned without problems [...] The chip-tuning we use is not detectable by your Jeep dealer. A standard adaption or Powerbox cannot be compared to our professional level of chiptuning."
And then they list the advantages, including going from 188hp to 207hp and 410Nm to 513Nm.

I don't work for them or anything, just thought you'd like to know. Because of the abundance of diesel cars in Europe, there are many diesel chip tuning companies and many just want to make a quick buck. I'n no expert, but I assume that if you tamper with the car by adding a piggyback chip or an additional electronics box, it can't be as good as editing the factory parameters of the car's original software. You want a company that takes over the factory warranty, too, just in case.

I wouldn't chip my CRD b/c it has plenty of power being "stock" even running 35".

Look at the J8, the millitary version of our JK, there the CRD has been reduced in horsepower to last longer.

I'm absolutly happy with my CRD, today I just passed 98.000km and i want to pass the 200,000kms some day without any problems due chipping the CRD.

Just install a snorkel (as CAI) and you're gonna be happy increasing your mileage by letting the CRD getting some fresh air

Thanks for the replies. guys. Yes, the CRD has plenty of grunt but would just like to make it shine a little more. Have found this one that looks promising:

Do the factory Diesel Wranglers have heavier duty axles?
