Default Anyone have the Dynomax exhaust, Muffler ahead or behind rear axle?

My gibson twin tip is just a bit too loud for me on the highway, looking at the dynomax SS system, very reasonble price plus they have a $75 rebate going on.
Muffler aread or behind the axle?

also may be interested in selling the gibson, just to much cab noise for long highway trips.

Thanks to WOL for this clip.
Many people run the muffler in front of the axle as to offer a little more "protection" of the muffler. The "sound" that is produced from a muffler/exhaust system is all subjective.

I still have not ordered a new system, will the mufflers location have any impact on the sound or performance?

I noticed the high clearance system has a round muffler and the standard behind axle is oval and 2" shorter.

if it makes any differance I am looking for lower rpm torque for struggling with a trailer, i was told the Gibson with two outlets my be giving up some torque due to very little back pressure.

No more Drone

Default Beofre the axle

I have the high clearance stainless system. It was part of my EVO rear lever suspension upgrade, I have been completely happy with it. I cannot say for sure if there was any performance gain, my 1 ton axles and 40"s hide any feeling of performance increase. I do love the sound of it though! I definitely recommend the Dynomax set up

I assume the kit will allow either location. I am looking at the same system.

How is the sound in the cab on the highway, the Gibson twin outlet is terrible with a load on the motor in the 1800 to 2400rpm range

I thought they gave you a choice of exit location, but I could be wrong

I have not noticed any drone at those RPMs. I have done several long hwy road trips, one of which was doing 6-8hrs a day for two days at 65-75mph. No problems with noise.
