Anyone have a 35" on the stock spare mount?

a couple of recent threads about this, search the last couple of days posts and you should find them.... Most people are ok for awhile but some have had the spot welds on the tailgate start to break down and the metal begins to flex/warp.... there is an mbrp tailgate reinforcement kit that has been used with success by some on here with 35's on the stock mount

My welds started to fail with a 33. I put some self-tapping srews in the gate to hold it all together which worked for a while. It started again after about 4-5 months. I ended up getting a bumper/tire carrier and suggest you do the same if it's within your budget. Why risk it....

Thats what i was running, first time wheeling afterward, tackling a descent, the dismount angle must have been too steep, tire hit a rock and bent the rear gate... got a smittybilt XRC (see the forums on why thats out of the oven and into the frying pan) to replace it but the doors still a little banged up looking.

Blew my spot wields to hell, shattered the vent fins on the bottom inside and warped the piss out of the sheet metal
...Every bump flexes the sheet metal..so it is a matter of when...not if...Some will say "It hasn't happened to me" they have just been beating the odds but....just a matter of time and how many bumps. After the first one goes it gets weaker allowing more movement which only increases the speed at which it comes apart...The spare that did me in was a 35X12.5 Nito Tera Grappler on a 16X10 ECO rim.
Not like it will happen as soon as you put the spair on...just watch it and keep in mind you may need to look at a better set up down the road....Good luck
