Yes. Buy some 37s and run 4.56 or just run 33s at 3.21. There are bigger problems in the world.

So you have 3.21's? I would try it worst thing that can happen is you hate it and have to re-gear. I have 35's with 3.73's and I think its peppy enough for me. I'm also at sea level with no hills of consequence. If I lived in a region with hills or mountains I would try to get by with 4.10's I dont want to kill my MPG too bad.

I have 3.21's with 35's on my '12. It isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be, at least on-road (I'm waiting for my lift before I hit the trails again). It isn't going to win any drag races, but it drives fine once you recalibrate your foot. Whenever it is revving too high just back off the throttle for a brief sec and it with kick into the higher gear. This doesn't happen too often and when it does is normally on a steep incline. I'm still planning on regearing; it just isn't anywhere near as high on my list as it was before I bought my tires. I'm now going to wait until after my lift, bumpers, and rack go on.

Was your $3k quote including lockers or was that for a regear with a "happy ending"?

Sounds like a good idea. Just get the 35's and an AEV Procal. Drive it for a while and decide. It's not like you HAVE TO regear the second you get the 35's.

A buddy of mine had 4.88's on his 6mt for his 3.8L and he complained that his rpms were too high on the highway but he got better mileage than the 3.8L running 4.10 and 3.73. (all running 35's)

Honestly the difference between 4.10 and 4.56 is not that much. If you want to regear just get the 4.56 and you have a leg up on the rubi owners who like to beat their chest and it gets you closer to them off road when they have 4 to 1 transfer cases and you only had 2.7... so you are closer to them when you are in 4lo with your higher (numerically gears)

you say you wish you got the rubi, and you are worried about engine life... just regear, enjoy the jeep you have for 2 or 3 more years... if you are worried about longevity, sell it before it hits 100k miles and buy that rubi you always wanted, I hear the 2016 Rubicons are going to be amazing

For what it's worth. My 3.8 rubi had 4.10 gears with the 6 speed manual. I put 35" tires and it was a dog. I re-geared to 4.88 because of the extra cost of 4.56. I couldn't be happier. The extra torque off the line is great and I can actually pass other vehicles on the highway in 6th gear. Now at least I get close to the mpg advertised in the window sticker.

Default Dana 30 with 4.10's

So not to hijack the thread but this is one of the many that I read concerning this topic and my brain hurts . But I as well made the mistake of getting a Sahara with D30 front and D44 rear running 3.21 gears. I am wanting to go to 4.10's so that it can be driven by the girlfriend as a DD. Running 35's with 4" RC lift

Just to be sure I found this kit

Alloy USA Ring & Pinion Gear Set, Dana 30, Front, 4.10 Ratio

Says it is 4.10 gears for a D30 housing up front. I know one of the threads I read said this was not possible. I found the kit for the rear but I wanted to see how many other people have gone from 3.21 to 4.10's in the stock D30 carrier or have used these specific gears. Thanks guys

Those gear are fine, but you need a new front carrier (like $70) for 3.73 gears as up
