I have an '08 JKU with a 6spd, I'm running 37s with 4.88s and feel it is perfect. If I had gone with 35s I would of gone with 4.56s, I feel 4.88s are too low for 35s if you are on the highway alot. In 6th with my 4.88s and 37s I'm turning about 2750-2800rpms at 75 mph. The JK pulls great, no problem climbing hills or holding that speed. One of the previous poster's stated that at 100mph he was only about 3000rpm with 35s and 4.88s...I don't see that being possible. I'd be well over 3000rpms at 100mph and my speedo has been recalibrated and confirmed with a gps.
Anyway, there has been alot of good info posted here for you. Planman is a wealth of knowledge, definately alot of no B.S., fact based info. There really is no wrong or right here, it all depends on your use and....as I'm sure many can agree is a tough decision to make as most of us only want to pay for gears once. I went back and forth between 5.13s and 4.88s, even bought 5.13s but ended up exchanging them for 4.88s. So far, I'm very happy with my decision.

Good info Bonedoc, thanks for posting.
I'm in a similar situation as you. I have a '08 2dr Rubicon w/ 6spd man.
I'm currently running 35" KM2's (and love 'em) on OME LT HD lift (love that too,lol), with the stock 4.10's.
It's not bad, but 6th is almost useless on the highway.
I'm going to upgrade to 37" KM2's soon (shoulda just got 'em in the first place?), and I know I'll hafta regear.
I'll probably go 4.88's as well, but I'm still a li'l unsure since KM2's tend to run small?
I agree with you about Planman too. A great wealth of experience and no B.S. information, thanks Planman.

but it being a 2 door with 4.56 on 35s, vs a 4 door 4.88 with the 35s; wouldn't it balance out since there's less weight? If you could squeeze a little better gas mileage and not sacrifice to higher rpms with your 6 speed, then why not? This is assuming you won't ever go over 35s.

It's not the weight that's the issue, it's aero drag at highway speeds and an underpowered engine. There are simply a ton of people who are extremely happy with 4.88s on their pre-2012 JKs.
