Are gussets a must ASAP if I put 35's on? I hear some yes and no but I want to hear it from you guys that are still without and how long has it been since placing the larger tires.

8 months later for me and no problems. Also no problems with the tailgate. Not saying nothing will happen but it's not urgent for me.

1 year so far no problems, but its a matter when not if they bend. I do some hard wheeling here in Hawaii but the roads are more often worse than the trails. The only reason i haven't done it yet is because i have a stock dana 30 up front and im saving for a pro rock 44.

Thanks guys. I still have the 30 and don't know when I'll upgrade so I'll definately get the gussets on in the future. Hawaii roads sound similar to western Pennsylvania roads lol.

Why wouldn't you do it ?? A set of gussets are about 90 bucks.
Know anyone that can weld them in ?

I ran without them 2 years with 35s, no issues but I got them now. Good preventative measure for sure.

A friend of a friend is a professional welder. He already said that he would do it for some pizza and beer. With me being a perfectionist (and worry wort) it'll probably will be done sooner than later, it was just a testing of the water on how long I actually could go w/o them.

You won't know it was a 'must ASAP' until after they are bent...
