Default Another Wheel and Tire question

Ready to pull the trigger on wheels and tires for my rig, I dont know alot about what will or wont fit my stock JK so any help you guys can give me will be much appreciated. My jeep is my daily driver and for the most part its a pavement princess, I love wheeling but dont get the chance to go very often and when I do I stick to mild trails and a little mud now and then. The wheels I want are 17x8.5, 0 offset, 4.75 Backside and 5x127 bolt pattern, i'm looking at getting a set of Duratracs, Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2's or Hankook RF10's in 265/70/17. Will the wheels fit my jeep (without spacers)? Will the tire size I want fit on these wheels?

Yup, you should have no problem even if you wanted to use stock wheels.

Edit: you need 5x5 bolt pattern!!!!

The rims are even wider than needed for those skinny little 265 mm tires, you have plenty of extra room.

The size you're planning on is smaller diameter than the stock tires, so I'm sure that part is an easy fit too.

265 mm is only going to protrude inboard a measly little 5 mm more than the stock 255's, so I'm sure that part is easy as well.

You are essentially mounting stock sized tires on giant rims.

5x127mm and 5x5 are the same bolt pattern your wheels/tires shouldn't rub

I put a set of 17X9 wheels on mine, and I cant remember if they were 4.5" or 4.75" backspacing. Anyway, I am running the stock 32" Rubi tires, and it works perfectly.

Alright so let me get this straight, (i'm assuming 265 is the width?) 265 is smaller than 255 when it comes to tires? So would say a 245/75/17 fit the wheel better or would I be running into problems? Any of you guys know a good tutorial like site where I can learn about all of this stuff haha.

They are saying that the overall diameter of the new tires is smaller then a stock rubicon tire.

Also, the wheels are kinda wide for such a skinny tire, you're almost better off with an 8" wide wheel with that tire size.

I can vouch for the Hankook RF10's, great tire in the snow, nice and quiet on the highway and not bad at all in mud and dirt situations. Obviously not as good as a dedicated MT tire but, a great compromise for on road handling and off road capability.

I say go with a 285/70/17. The 265 will get lost in the big wheels wells. I had 265's originally and they worked but they looke tiny. I run 35's now and my wife drove it with them on there for months before I got home from Afghanistan without any street driving issues. Just forget wheeling on 35's without a lift but 285's will work just fine on and offroad.

Lots of jeepers have that tire size. What your looking at will fit fine. Later when your ready to install larger tires they will look better. Bigger always looks better!

When I said I dont know alot about tire/rim sizes I wasnt kidding lol. Diameter wise i'm happy with the stock Bridgestones I have now, mostly im looking for something wider. I think my JK would look awesome with tires that stick out past the flares just a little. I dont want to go with an MT because its just gonna be a waste of money, they'll barely see the dirt lol.
