Aluminum Bumper
Hey guys, I'm new to the board with a 2011 JK Sahara. I've just gone past my warranty mark so I've open the mod doors.
For my first mod, I just ordered a 3" BDS lift, 17" black Method Racing NV301 Wheels wrapped in 35" BFG KO2.
I was considering an aluminum after market bumper maybe from GenRight. My thoughts are the steel bumpers are way too heavy and will bog my 3.8 down. I do plan on some future power upgrades which I don't want just for the added weight. So I'm thinking aluminum should still be hard enough for small bumps and off road hazards, and would actually be safer in a serious collision allowing some crumpling to absorb the energy where a steel would not. There seems to be a more limited selection for aluminum bumpers.
What are you guys thoughts, and for those who have aluminum bumpers what do you have and like? Would love to see pics of too. As I said I like the GenRight, but would like not have to worry about painting it.

Speaking of GenRight, here's mine...
JK-Freak is actually selling his aluminum rear bumper pretty cheap but it's been painted black. Look at the For Sale section under armor, etc.

For you Rugged Ridge guys, how was the instal and fitment? I was advised by my local shop to stay away from them. That their quality wasn't that good, and always have issues with installing any of their products?
I really like what you guys have there. Rugged Ridge prices seem to have the best prices aluminum bumper.

I really like the bumper for a full width. Install was easy since it only weighs 37 lbs. Hardest part was cutting the vacuum pump bracket off to relocate the vacuum pump so the Winch would fit. I like how the Zeon 10-S sits in there nice and low. I originally installed a Smittybilt X2O Gen 2 that actually fit a little better and was perfectly centered on the fairlead. The Zeon is a little off center and is bit of a pain when spooling the line back in.
