Default *UPDATED REPAIRS*Almost killed myself, track bar mount cracked. Help!

So I was driving around today and suddenly my front tires start wobbling like mad, nearly lost control on the highway. Scared the bejesus out of me. My track bar mount is cracked, thats all I can see is wrong. See pic:

When I have my wife turn my steering wheel, the track bar is shifting from left to right bad, and thats what caused the mount to crack. The mount has become so weak it can barely hold the track bar in place...

I should mention its an 07 2door JK with a 4" inch Rough Country lift kit installed and 35" Mickey Thompsons...

I'm a super novice when it comes to Jeeps. This is my first JK and I love it to death, I had the 4"inch Rough Country lift installed cause of the write up I saw on this site, as well as some 35 MTZ's.

What the hell could have caused this? My wheels were straight and my steering was just about perfect too. I'm at a loss to even explain it. Shes undriveable now as the steering becomes way too wobbly to the point of being damn near dangerous. I know the dealer wont cover the fix as I'm sure my lift is the culprit. Anyone have any ideas why? How much would a new mount be to weld on as I'm sure a new one needs to be welded. Any input you guys have would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Do you have a lift and a track bar relocation bracket? If so, that's the culprit more than likely.

There's a bunch of this going on with lifted JK's. Seems the resolution is an adjustable trac bar.

Yes, the lift came with a relocation bracket..I intended on installing an adjustable trac bar, but figured it would be ok since I wasn't doing any off-roading yet. I installed the kit with the help of my friend about a month ago and have driven maybe 400 miles of easy city driving since the install. I'm really blown away with how easy this happened. Anyoen else??

the wobbles are extremely violent. the same day my bracket cracks I get the wobbles. I was literally underneath my truck yesterday and didnt notice this crack. The wobble only happens when I hit a bump or do anything over ten miles per hour. I dont think my camber could have been that far off to have caused this...but what the hell do I know...

So basically I need an adjustable track bar and a new mount welded on...anyone have an idea what a new mount runs from the dealer? Or do I have another alternative. Anyone make a mount thats stronger than the OEM one? Does anyone know a good 4x4 mechanic in the NY area?

Thanks again guys

Curious as to why you say "hopefully you have adjustable control arms" as most on here with a lift do not. Also, it's well known at this point that breakage in that area isn't a mere coincidence. It is due to the leverage the aftermarket brackets are putting on the axle bracket.

Wobbles, a broken track bar bracket, a trac bar that doesn't stay in place...that's no coincidence.

If it's only the aftermarket bracket that's broken you might be ok. If it's what's welded to the axle you need to have it re-welded, towed and re-welded. Hard to tell from your picture.

its the mount thats welded to the frame that is cracked. the after market bracket ironically is fine.

You can see it better in this pic

Frame or axle?

well its the upper part (drivers side) so its the frame....you can see in the pic I just posted. The relocation bracket is bolted to the trac bar mount thats welded to the frame...

Is this the front or rear track bar mounting point that cracked on the frame? I can tell from the pic you have a relocation bracket and since you said you have a RC lift, just wanted to know if your relocaion bracket is the one that RC sells on their site for their 2.5 BB for the rear since i had ordered this lift and relocation bracket today. Thanks

I have no idea if this is the one they sell with thier 2 inch BB...this is the front drivers side...not the rear bracket.
