I know and understand y, but how do you know how much for the conditions etc?

I am required when I wheel on the beach to drop to 18. Most hardcore rock crawlers asumming they can will go to 12 or lower, need headlocks at that point. What type of wheeling are you doing?

"headlocks" are tough to get better off going for an armbar submission.

Haha! Try to stay between 10-15 psi.

Historically, I'd run between 12-14 psi depending on altitude and conditions. Stay in this range and you'll be in good shape for most terrain

And do I headlock the guy airing me down or do I multi task and grab him and do it myself

I run 12-15 depending. Once you air down a few times+ for varying conditions, you'll develop more of a feel for it and how much to air down. I'm on oe 7.5" wide wheels though, so a bit limited in how low I can go.

Tire size and rim width should also be considered.
