I guess I got lucky. I pushed it from the inside and pulled it from the outside. It finally popped out all in 1 piece. Not sure you can blame the instructions, there's no easy way to get it out. You have to work it out very carefully.

I'll probably break mine this weekend. Just wouldn't be a typical install if I didn't break anything. I'll have my super glue ready.

Greetings all! I didn`t break mine.Just used a razor blade to cut a slit in the old rubber housing and VIOLA!Plugged back into the new housing like butter. Cheers! BTW-unplugged mine first,then dismantled the housing.

I to. but the dealer zip tied it and removed the 10 mill tape i put on. they also sead $35 to get new one and i would need to solder the wire's. so zip tie it will stay.
