Default Aftermarket Wheel Size Options with OE Tire Size

I'm thinking about moving on from my 17x8 OE alloy wheels into an aftermarket steel wheel. Currently, I have some pretty new OE sized 255/75R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs installed. Since I usually stay stock, I don't know what kind of options I have available to me. I've seen more interesting steel wheels in 17x8.5 and 17x9 but I don't know how that's going to work, if at all. For me to be able to install my current tires on whatever wheels I choose, do they have to be exactly 8" width or is there some wiggle room on that? Does it have any effects on anything outside of possibly recalibrating the speedometer (I have a tuner)? Thanks!
