Aftermarket Lockers

I tried it again today. I disconnected my swaybar and flexed the jeep over a high stump on a little hill at the conner of my driveway. This hung the right rear and the left front in the air and the the left rear/ right front on the stops. Guess what. The tires in the air were spinning. What am I doing wrong? Oh yeah, I was in 4LO.

Hey Nam, Why are deing such a smart alec? I was genuine when asking what the difference is. If figure if the BLD system is there and I induce a situation where it should be working then it should work. You want to run w/o lockers that's fine I'll help roll you back to tire side down at the bottom of the hill.

You people that think the BLD system is like a locker are crazy. The bld system works similar to a limited slip. If a tire is in the air, the traction will go to that tire and continue to spin. The tire on the ground will get nothing.

I agree with the previous couple of posts. There is no sub for a real locker. Sure the concept of the BLD is a good one but, it has limitations. Everyone needs to calm down and check the attitudes on the bulleting board. When someone offers a dissenting opinion don't try to pick that person apart. Simply realize the situation for what it is a dissenting opinion. Other than the attitude problem on this forum I've found some really good info here so this thing isn't too bad of a place to get info from. I'm sure this is what the board was started for.

I disagree. Open diffs are not better than having a traction device (even though LSD is not very good). You can accomplish the same thing with any open diff by tapping the brakes. You don't need a computer to do it for you.

The BLD system has the capability to apply braking to only 1 wheel at a time. It is an active system. I think this does qualify as a "traction device."The wheel with the least traction (fastest spinning) gets the brakes. This transfers power back to the wheel which is not spinning. This is similar in function to a limited slip. One uses clutches and the other uses the brakes in an attempt to achieve the same result. I guess we would have to conduct a scientific test to determine which system has the capability to apply more force in order to resolve this dispute, but thanks for disagreeing with me once again.

I should have known...
