After market rear tire carrier on stock bumper?
Has anyone modified a stock rear to accept an aftermarket tire carrier?
Just looking at this carrier it looks doable...

Just seems like a moog point, just the carrier and not the whole thing. Point being to enhance the rear and get better departure angles and hold a larger wheel tire combo. But hey its just my 2 cents.

it's nice, but i'm not sure how well it would work with the factory bumper, with the mounting parts being where they are. it's made to be installed on their(rugged ridge's) own bumper
maybe someone that has tried this could shed some light on it...

This will not work... Sorry. Our bumper uses a subframe under our bumper cover. This subframe will not fit with a stock bumper.

I've read a couple threads lately where guys are making their own tire carrier with the stock bumper using the steel bar that's under the bumper. I've been wanting just a tire carrier to take the weight off the tailgate but the prices are all too high. My husband is going to try to weld me one similar to the rugged ridge but it will mount to the steel bar under the bumper. I wish more vendors would make something like that. We all can't afford another $300-500 for a bumper and then more $$ for a tire carrier. If someone would make something and price it under $200, I think they'd make a lot of money.
