AEV vs. Metalcloak
#41
Having had both MC and aev coils in the 3.5", same fox shocks, I enjoy the MC a little more.
Is it worth agonizing over, nope. At the end of the day, go with your gut and what YOU want to run, not opinions of others telling you what you want.
I think both setup a are quality.

Continuing the derail.
All lifts are upgradeable. The RK kit can go from stock mod and up. The MC can do the same. AEV as well, but needs to come from other manufactures. Someone needs to research a little better.
The problem with the AEV is that when people upgrade that kit, they only keep the coils. The rest is dumped. I will never talk bad about AEV simply because I have never owned their stuff nor will I. It is simply something that doesn't meet my needs.
I fell for the RK koolaid. I then upgraded. (Bombproof warranty, my ass)
I sold my RK junk for a loss and bought the MC kit. Now that was an upgrade!!!!!!!!!!! (there's a joke here folks)
Word to the wise kids, there are plenty of guys on ALL jk sites that get free shit and will pimp for Jeremy (RK) all day. It's like Eddie is still running the show here and beyond. Grain of salt folks. Some are easily bought off for $300 worth of coils. Marketing.
Notice how Dave from AEV and Jeremy from RK don't actually state warranty and grandeur claims like guys on the take. Plausible denial. Marketing.
If Dirtman or Planman give you advice, take it. They're solid folk that know their shit.
That is all

To the OP, starting with a rough country lift and quickly removing it due to lack of quality, I installed the AEV Nth degree 4.5" lift. While it is great for daily driving and moderate trail rides, I found it lacking when I started more difficult trails. I bought RK arms (all 8) and JKS adjustable trac bars to try and "dial" it in a bit better. The lift was now performing better, but the last generation of RK joints were requiring rebuild far to frequently for my liking. I have since switched to MC duroflex arms and will probably change out the springs as well this year.
It really comes down to how you want to use your Jeep as to which kit you should consider.
One of the best and truest statements I read as I scanned through this thread:
"If Dirtman or Planman give you advice, take it. They're solid folk that know their shit."

The joke was the explanation marks RK feels they need to make after every statement!!!!!! It annoys me!!!!!!!
Not a joke was the upgrade from RK to Metalcloak. That is what I currently run and have zero intentions of replacing it. If you can track down someone local to try it, you will see what I mean. Damn thing is smooth and trouble free. If you really research, you will find a minuscule difference in price when looking at what is included in kits. People get scared because of the price of MC 6-pack shocks. They are optional. You can get whatever shocks you want. I would encourage anyone to call MC with any questions. They are very helpful and are accommodating as to changes you want in their kit.
Just so you know, I spent full boat on both systems. Metalcloak is much mo betterer.
Again, sorry for my lack of clarity.
