Please educate me on this .. I was not aware that AEV made a gas tank skid. I'd be interested in finding out about this.

my bad perhaps, but isn't the AEV skid plate mounted just in front of the gas tank?

Just checked, my bad, I made the appropriate correction, thank you for pointing it out to me.

No harm. I have that one on my Jeep. I thought you might have had an inside line on a gas tank skid other than RockHard4x4's.

A couple people asked for some more pics from the front so here they are. I detailed the Jeep today.

I've always loked the ARB. Got one on my 94XJ and love it. had it for about 12 years now and the finish has held up.
When we got the JK for wife back in 06 ARB made no mention of a bumper, however I knew it was just a matter of time. On the other hand I'm one that doesn't like to wait. We got the AEV. Here are some pics to compare. They do look pretty much alike overall, but you can see the differences here.
We do not have a winch on the JK, so I made a plate to cover the hole in the bumper. This hole is where the wifes front plate is.
I did not have the factory fogs installed in the pic's.

Default ARB Bumper

I just installed my ARB bumper with a Warn 9.5ti and love it. I also purchased a pair of IPF lights that still need to be installed. This bumper is as solid as they come. I'll post additional pictures once I get her back on the trails.

With these particular two bumpers, I believe it's just budget and personal preference. It's known that the two are top quality.
In my case I've chose the AEV, but the truth is i'm still waiting for the rear AEV bumper which ARB already has.

Here's mine;

and some ARB;

They all look great, still I prefer my AEV.

i think the ARB looks better. it looks more solid, and if you look closely, it actually goes up higher then the aev on the corners
