AEV vs ARB Front Bumpers
#22
AEV Conversion... $4995.
Still have a crappy plastic rear bumper.
Have holes drilled in your factory sheet metal for corner guards that are probably not necessary for most people.
Front Bumper does not accept power plant.
Even though it looks cool No MiniVan motor needs to have a heat reduction hood
Again it costs $4995.
You dont get a winch for $4995.
If you get the ARB front bar, ARB rear bar, Smittybuilt SRC8 Winch, Via-Air or ARB high flow compressor, after market add on lights for the front ARB bumper light mounts, and dont mid keeping the factory MOAB's instead of Pintlers... You can have a much better Jeep in my opinion, for $2200. That is what I spent to install
ARB FRONT BUMPER
ARB REAR BUMPER
SRC8 WINCH
KILBY TANK KIT
CB RADIO
ARB HIGH FLOW COMPRESSOR w/ KILBY OBA TANK INSTALL KIT
KC 100W FLOOD BEAMS
HIGHLIFT JACK
CLEVICE HOOKS for front bumper
and since I own the spray liner dealership the spray liner is free.
I'd take my/her Rubi the way that I built it any day before I paid $4995 for what AEV is building. When I'm ready for a new set of wheels for this Jeep I'll pick up a set of beadlocks. Otherwise the Moabs are just fine for me.
The last 2 things for us to do is get the ARB front skid and ARB muffler skid when the become avaliable.
We might get OME 2" Coils if it sags to much after all the extra weight.
As a matter of fact, I like our new JK so much that I just might ditch both XJ's, 1 CJ, and 1 MJ, and go get my self a 2 dr X, hard top, with sway bar disco and rear locker, and build it exactly like hers only with X-CON decals on the hood in "RUBICON" font.

I agree with you. I really like the look of ARBs bumpers. The AEV hood as slick as it is is something one could always add later even if its functionality is questionable. My plan is to put on the ARB bumpers with Warn powerplant which has the air compressor built in.
I checked the price of AEVs leather seats and its $1500 just for the leather and another $500 for the heated seats. It seems expensive with a re-upholstery job and the heated seats could be had for half that.

Both ARB and AEV are great brand and deliver great products. Personally, I prefer the AEV bumper, it is slicker and extremely well made. The ARB is very "Fat" to me and feel less aerodynamic, it's huge.... I also like the skid solution that AEV has.
I think AEV has found the perfect balance between off-road needs and "city" looks as well as delivering a quality product. Of course it all come down to personal preferences and you sure can't go wrong with ARB either.

The ARB will accept the powerplant. That is what the company told me directly on the phone. If you have any doubt just call there US base and ask them directly they are very friendly.
Does anyone know the weight difference off-hand between the two? The other concern is that the ARB is very heavy and with a winch you may need a spacer up front to prevent sag.

I really like the AEV, but kntr has a great looking setup. Both bumpers are top quality, and I think its just personal preference and budget. I keep thinking that a stubby would also be for me, but I'm not that hard core on the rocks, and like the extra protection up front. Thanks kntr, now I have more to decide on!
