AEV must have changed the price of their bumper recently. I have the '07 Quadratec catalog and it lists for $1049 or $749 without the winch mount, which can be added later. Now it's listed at $1249 with no cheaper option. $750 wouldn't have been so bad, but another $500 if you don't need the winch mount right away? That's a serious dent in the "future mods" account!

I saw this on another site:

The AEV bumper assembly advertised in JP Magazine for $848 is no longer available. We apologize for the inconvenience, and it wasn’t our intent to bait-and-switch. That bumper system, as it was priced, did not include a winch mount, which AEV informed us to be a critical component for collision and air bag compliance and should be required.
I don't know how a winch mount would positively affect the air bags.

I can't remember where but if you see the cut-away pics of all the aev bumper parts, the winch plate looks more like a structual component than just a plate the winch sits on. Maybe someone can find that drawing.

Need more pictures of this one. Not real wild about the big logo on it though. I wonder what they will pay for my advertising ?

I too am in the same boat. The issues for me are that the AEV requires minor modification to the front end for mounting while the ARB is "bolt-on". Also the AEV is $1200+ and the ARB could be had for $825 plus shipping. Finally, The ARB DOES in-fact accept the new powerplant from Warn but the AEV DOES NOT. This information comes directly from ARB in the USA.

AEV however has a whole conversion kit that you can have them install by shipping the JK out to Michigan and includes a bunch of really slick features. And i can roll the whole cost into my financing through Chrysler.

Thats my dilemma...

Any-one else have thoughts?

I, too have considered the AEV bumper. It appears to be top notch. Don't know tool much about the ARB, but really like the Shockworks Mid front bumper. Is this in the same category as the other two bumpers?

I think it will be the ARB for me. As stated it matches the JK styling better and is cheaper.

Having just installed an AEV front bumper on my JK, I cannot see why you'd want to install a winch mount after the fact. The install is tedious enough and you'd have to take absolutely everything back off to install the winch mount. The winch mount is the piece that ties almost everything together on the AEV.

It is one nice, high-quality bumper.
