Default AEV snorkel with supercharger on 09 X.

I am not sure if this as been asked but I was wondering if I were to get an AEV snorkel. Will I in the future be able to put a supercharger. I've been do some research but I can't seem to find an answer. I think from what I have seen is the HESCO would allow this. Now a couple of questions if possible.
-If you have an AEV snorkel is there a change in milage and power?
-If I were to do this set up will the snorkel allow enough air to the supercharger?
Thanks

Mighty-banana,

I have a RIPP kit installed now and I am currently looking into my options for getting a snorkel. My problem is the placement of the air filter on the RIPP kit is low (I do not do much water crossing but some come about every now and then), and it getting a lot of hot air from the engine.

I want to run a Safari Pre-filter on the snorkel to help clean the air flow when I am off road.

However, I also want to run a ram air tip when I am back on the highway to get max air flow. From what I hear from RIPP there really is not much of a gain nor loss with a snorkel. It is a little restrictive but you draw cooler air so it kind of cancels out. I have contacted River Raider and they told me they will build me a custom snorkel to run that pre-filter. I am just looking into my air box options. RIPP sells a air filter/box that works with the RR snorkel but it is pretty pricey. RR sells a small air box that I am hoping might fit in the space provided.

Goodluck if you find any new info, post it up. I am very interested as well.

I got to go wheeling with a guy earlier this summer who has a VERY capable TJ built up into an AEV Brute. He's got a snorkel, but he also has an airbox that has a separate (sealable) port that leads into the engine compartment.

The idea is that when he's on the trail, all air is pulled through the snorkel and it's prefilter. When he gets back the highway, he can remove the sealed cap on the second opening in the airbox to provide the most possible air flow.

While a bit more work than swapping the heads on your snorkel, it will probably work better too.

Sounds like a decent idea... The only problem is with the Ripp kit you are VERY limited to air box options. The blower draws air from about 8" from the passenger side firewall. And between the blower, J/B, and Battery locations. There is no where to even mount a remote air box. Bitter sweet I know, at least for sure there IS an option. I guess we were just hoping for a few more is all. I REALLY like RR new snorkel, just wish I had more air box options. May have to do custom indeed...

A holesaw, some marine epoxy, and some PVC sewage pipe fittings can probably provide an additional air inlet in almost any airbox. Inlet placement shouldn't be a big issue for you if you're going to cover the inlet any time that you're off road.

The nice thing about marine epoxy is that once it cures, you can sand it and then paint it. It looks like reheated dog crap when you first apply it...but with a dremel, a bit of time investment, and some paint you're looking pretty good.

Gokracer1.

Yeah as I have been looking I saw that the RIPP air filter is behind the engine which doesn't allow much. Then I saw the HESCO supercharger which attaches to the factory air filter box. That was the reason why I was thinking HESCO. I am not sure if I could attach links to HESCO site but if you take a look you can see it. And the AEV snorkel does the same by attaching to factory air filter box.

It does seem that snorkel options are easier on a HESCO kit. But think long and hard on what kit you REALLY want to spend the cash on. I went with RIPP because they seem to have more pro's then cons. But just do your homework, I am sure both kits will do fine. But snorkel flexibility... Defiantly HESCO.

By any chance would you know the difference or what difference I should be looking for?
