AEV snorkel on stock hood question.
how did you install the optional AEV trim Ring? it says to used the supplied stainless steel rivets but im not so sure that will hold anything in place? did u simply buy some screws?

I used the supplied rivets, they do in fact hold the trim plate quite well.
However, if you want overkill, some small SS bolts with washers would be better. I donīt think screws will be any stronger that the rivets, especially with the thin sheet metal.

This'll be my second install. The first got smooshed on a tree. :-) From personal experience, I can tell you the cut-out and trim ring weaken the hood. I'll probably add some thin steel to re-enforce the cut-out this time (probably cutting it out from the first hood). I also forgot to paint the rivet holes the first time around -- installing the rivets as I went. This time I'll paint the holes first and use some small SS bolts instead.
