Default Aev rear diff skid with artec truss

As anyone modified an AEV rear diff slider to work with an artec truss? I was considering chopping the axle tube mount portion and welding it in place. Why would I ever need to remove it?

Go!

No one runs a diff skid. Shoot, even $150k rock bouncers and $250k ultra 4s don't run them. Sell it.

I'm one of the nobodies that run a AEV rear yoke skid. Sweet for the yoke/u joint protection. Mines just hammered from parking lots that said mine hasn't been modified

I agree I run one for the pinion protection. My lil d44 needs all the help it can get, lol!

To the op, I don't have the artec rear truss I just welded the tubes to the pumpkin unless you are running a 3 link I see no reason for the rear truss. You will have to look far and wide to find a report of a bent rear housing there are just a few guys who have had the pumpkin rotate on the tubes which a few welds there can prevent.

Wrangler X, did you end up welding in the skid? I have the artec truss and i was thinking of drilling a hole on each side for the u bolts to go through it so i can still unbolt if if need be. Havent tried yet...

After I caught my rear diff/yoke on a stump during a hill climb I bought the AEV diff skid. Its saved my pinion a few more times after that. I dont like that doesnt extend past the end of the diff cover so an aftermarket cover is needed to protect the covers lip. For the $240 its saved me from having to buy a new rear driveshaft. It does have an access hole to drain the diff fluid but its tough to get at. I removed mine to change the rear fluid. Thats the only thing Id say would prevent you from welding it on.
