AEV rear bumper w tire carrier
#11
I ordered the tire carriere, fuel caddy, Hi-lift/ pull-pal mount, and water tanks yesterday.
I have a 2012 Call of Duty that has the AEV bumper already installed. Has anyone installed just the tire carrier? Or, how hard was it to install the carrier?
Is it a one person job or will a wife be needed to complete the install?

Got the bumper installed. One question...when u shut the tail gate there is a slight rattle, is this usual? Everything seems tight and it was installed by a dealership that is an AEV dealer but just wanted to make sure.

I have had mine on for a few weeks now with the gas caddy full (standard tire rim combo) and so far no problems.
I don't have a rattle while opening / closing mine??
I added a lock to my Hi-Lift (long style lock that came with one of my guns) so I can make sure my jack doesn't "walk" off. The only issue with the lock is that I have to lift if up slightly so it doesn't hit my tail light cover. If I don't open the tailgate / carrier all the way to the taillight I can't open my glass......
Going to fill the water tanks today and run with them for a few days to make sure everything is secure fully loaded. Will test the pump as well.
I added a $13 Wal-Mart LED third brake light. In the automotive bling-bling section. They have the different length and color LED's. I picked up the one that has 2 4" red LED's and spliced them into the OEM tire carrier backup light plug. They are self adhesive so I stuck them to my gas caddy and they look fine and work great!
So far, I freaking love this thing!
Oh, one other draw back. Rear view mirror is obsolete now. Wife is giong to hate this when she drives it next. Looking into a rear view camera / mirror option.

I have this carrier and 1 piece of advice... MAKE SURE TO GREASE IT FROM DAY 1!!!! I failed to do so and waited until about 6 months which was into the winter. I apparently was too late and over time, the inner shaft seized up against the outer bracket making it impossible to open. I had to take a cutting wheel to the bracket in order to bang the carrier out. I took a metal brush to it, painted it, put it all back together and it opens smoother then before, however I now have a cut from the bottom to the top of the bracket exposing the inner grommets. I'm fine with it though and it makes it easier to grease! lol....
