Default AEV rear bumper w tire carrier

Ok I am getting ready to decide on purchasing this bumper. Is the tire carrier necessary for 285/75/17 nittos w a custom rim? When it is time to get new tires i will upgrade to 34s maybe 35s but not sure since i only have a 2" lift. Does the tire carrier and tailgate open together? Any cons to this bumper? The main thing I like besides looks and how it ties in with my rock rails is the water tanks since we plan on time at the beach and this would allow easy use to wash off.

If you like the looks and the functionality- go for it. As far as I remember it does open as one unit.

I had a 34 on my tailgate without a carrier for about 2 years. You can see on the inside of the tailgate where it started to pull the spot welds, but that's about it.

Anyone had any issues with the tire carrier or bumper? Is it considered a heavy combo compared to others

I'd call this the top one or two combos on the market. It opens with the tailgate, and it's bad ass!

I have used mine. I think my vent tube is pinched because the pump was not pumping well. It is awesome though, I love it

I agree I think the Aev tire Carrier is one of the best on the market. Very smooth operating and quality second to none

I've had the bumper and carrier combo for over a year and love it. I also sprung for the 10 gallon fuel caddy. With the caddy full of fuel and a 35x1250 BFG, it is steady and the tailgate is easily opened with on hand while the other is full of groceries.

I cringed at the price at the beginning, but the package has been well worth it. I'd definitely do it again.

good luck with your choice.

Nope, mine are just for show. I have people ask me what knob on the rear bumper is all about...all the time.
