Yeah, I'm a little disappointed. The tube crap is ugly. It does look to be a high quality piece though.

I have to admit that I'm a little disapointed.

I've been checking that thread pretty regularly for the past 6 months. Definitely not what I was expecting, need to see more pics/ descriptions/ price before I decide if I like it. First impression, though, is not what I thought AEV would come out with. I agree that it reaally doesn't match the front bumper...

lol I am SO glad I didn't wait and went with the Expedition One. It's really odd that a different company's bumper matches their front better than their own rear bumper does.

That being said, the quality looks very high, which isn't surprising. Considering there is no tubing on the front, I don't know why they put some on the rear. And does anyone have an idea why anyone would want to carry around 5 gallons of water in their bumper?

First impression is that the integrated water carrier is a neat enough idea, but it strikes me as being a little gimmicky coming from a company like AEV... maybe they have something else up their sleeves (other modules to replace the "water corners"?)

Frankly I really associate the exposed tube look with either crawler/buggy rigs or really low-end products from overseas, neither of which really seem in line with AEV's image and reputation...

On the plus side, the one-handed operation with the little cam mechanism does seem very nice, and as others have said it looks pretty well built for what it is.

Just my two cents -- maybe I'm not seeing the big picture

I thought the AEV front bumper had a tubular grill guard.

I don't understand the water storage needs. Surely it is not safe for drinking. It isn't enough weight (40ish lbs) to make much of a difference in stance or traction. Would be great to have in the desert if your vehicle was overheating. Who knows...
