I've got the River Raiders they have plenty of step and cover from the top of the rocker panel all the way under and attach to the body mounts.

There's a lot to like about the Tereflex. I wonder about the aluminum. Would it take a beating? I mean, I'm not planning on a beating but ya never know. Also, I wonder if you can use a high-lift on them?

I saw some sliders with a step that would tuck up into the slider. Does anyone know who makes them and are they any good?

[Edit] After getting to a real computer I was able to find these. I don't know about the quality or durability but it says it protects the rocker panel all the way to the frame. May have to get these for my vertically challenged wife.

Add function and protection to your Jeep with a set of HighRock 4x4 Slider Steps from Bestop. Constructed of heavy-duty 3/16" steel, each Slider Step is a rocker panel protector and a step in one. Each Slider Step features a 2.5" diameter tube step constructed with 1/8" wall tubing that descends 4" from the body allowing it to double as a nerf bar in the up position and a step in the down position, providing easy, safe entry.

The HighRock 4x4 Slider Step rocker panel wraps around the rocker panel and under the vehicle to the frame for the ultimate off-road protection. Protected with a textured black powdercoat finish, each step is spring loaded for easy adjustment and features a molded step pad. All hardware and fasteners are plated for corrosion resistance.

Smittybilt SRC step things. Stupidly strong. Heavy though. Dirt cheap at $250 shipped.

Check out the LoD's. Heavy duty, Frame mounted, and with good solid steps built in. If your wife has limited mobility I would recommend a rail with actual flat step surfaces, not just a tube. With a tube, when wet or dirty they get slippery and your foot will slide off a round rail. They are more expensive than the Smittybilts, but you get what you pay for. These rails are sturdy, frame-mounted, and the steps are some of the best I have seen.

Not the best pic, but only one I have:

WoL has an awesome install writeup with good pictures of them at:

I love my pure jeep sliders. They are a pain to put on and you have to drill the body but they look great and have a good surface to stand on. IMO

Rugged ridge rock rails are my choice. Strong and a good wide double pipe step on top. I have had the jeep sitting on these and no problems

My Teraflex sliders have held up for 3yrs bumping trees and minor rock hits but have never been given a serious beating. I think they would do okay. One problem is that there is not a good lift point for a hilift jack like the PSC Brawler Rockers but I like Teraflex's aluminum since my jeeps getting heavy with everything I keep adding.

This is my opinion but I would never install rocker rails for side protection since you lose so much ground clearance versus a slider plus with a slider you get to drill holes in the side of your brand new jeep.

Subbed. My decision will likely be the SRC but that decision is about a month out (just ordered bumpers) so I'll review your findings at that time
