So, here is a little follow up. After putting a few hundred more miles on the jeep (yeah I have a really long commute) I can say that the noise transmission into the cab was either a figment of my imagination or so minor that I have already become accustomed to it, because I cant even hear it if I try to listen for it. I've had the t-case in and out of 4 hi and 4lo a few more times and the shifting is still smooth and flawless.

Do you know if Advance Adapters make this kit for an '08 with manual tranny?

If I had known about this kit when I first bough my jeep i would have done it right away. I lost my linkage bushing at just over 10K miles and only 6 months old, two miles out on the beach, with my two little kids with me. Needless to say when I found out that my damn near $40k rubicon (read more off-road capable than others), failed me due to a senseless cost-savings piece if crap bushing I was p***ed. If jeep were mass producing a heavy heim joint cable like these it would probably only add a few bucks to the overall cost of the jeep. Instead we are left to cross our fingers that the bushing holds, my recommendation to everyone is at the very least carry some zipties, safety wire, extra bushing, or something to get you home if/when the factory bushing fails. Or you can just guarantee yourself that the cable wont fail and grab one of these advance adapter kits. In the grand scheme of things it is a cheap mod and cheap insurance to assure you wont be crawling under your jeep in an inopportune or unsafe location.

What did you do with your old linkage? Would you mind if i took it off your hands for you? I'm planning a 4WD conversion on a budget.

Thanks

Hi deluxe, I kept the old linkage, because if i upgrade to another jeep in a few years, i may swap it back in and keep the advance kit. Of course when the time comes I may just send the advance kit along with this jeep and buy a new one, but for now I'm keeping it. if you buy direct from advance they are only about 185.
