Default Additional lift

Please settle a dispute between my friend and I. He has a 2.5" Rubicon Express lift and wants to add 1" spacers for additional lift. I told him that he can not do that. He stated that the guy whom installed the lift stated it can be done. Anybody ever hear of this?

I'm by far not an expert, but you will read here often that spacers added to a lift will offset sag issues that come with winches or heavier bumpers.

I actually have a 1" spacer in the rear of mine and it has a 2.5" coil lift.

no reason why you can't do it but, with more lift come new problems (driveline clearance issues, angles, suspension and steering geometry, need for longer shocks, brakelines, recentering your axles, caster, etc.) that, while not required, i would highly recommend that you address.

Yea, people do it all the time to level out after adding weight to the front. I added 1" spacers on all corners on a 2.5" spring lift.

Cool, thanks for the info! My guess us that he is looking for more lift. He doesn't have a winch or after market bumper. He just wants additional lift.

Spacers are actually much better for adding an inch to the top of healthy springs than for making up an inch on overloaded or sagging springs - so I'd say give it a try. As WOL said, be prepared for other issues when you go taller.
