Default ACE or JCR Rock Sliders ; Decide for me

ACE or JCR Rock Sliders, please help me decide.

I own a 2012, JKU, 4 door, Deep cherry crystal red.

I started looking for a great set of step-rails and decided I'm better off with Rock-rails.
Then I started looking at what the different companies had to offer, and the prices.
I've narrowed it down to two companies; ACE & JCR

ACE; $295-($368.12 includes Shipping)

Made with beefy 2 mild steel tubing, with a super-strong 0.134 thickness.
Hanging off the body just enough to get a good foothold.
With a slight-grit in the powder-coat helps prevents slipping.
All of this, and guaranteed for life? Thats how ACE does it.

JCR; $370-($460 includes Shipping)

The sliders are constructed from 3/16" plate that is CNC cut.
The Stage 2 sliders feature 1.75" round side tubing.
Even more protection that can also be used as a step.
Offers complete under-body and rocker panel protection.
Lifetime guarantee; you break it, we will replace it.

I'm kind of leaning towards the JCR's as they offer greater body
protection. And I won't need Rubi-rails to help cover what the
ACE product misses.

Has anyone had any issues with either of these products?
What are they and If your happy with them, why?

Thanks in Advance for your help.

JCR's come unfinished, so be sure to factor the cost of paint or powder coat into the additional costs column.

I’m sure you will get a lot of people chiming in. I was in the same boat, I chose ACE because I could leave my Rubi Rails on. They look great and they are a perfect step for my short wife. Just pick the one that has the look you want and in the price range! To push the Ace rail into the Rubi Rail and have the Rubi Rail do body damage would take a force im not sure wouldnt push the rubi rail into the body anyway. I'm 210 lbs and can jump up and down on them and they feel rock solid. If you want I can click a picture of it for you.

I'm ordering the JCR rails tomorrow. I like the stage 2 with the body protection. If I had Rubi rails I may have gone ACE but I don't so I'm not...

I have the JCR Rails sitting in the Garage right now. I just used 2 coats of flat black and another 2-3 coats of bedliner. unfortunately I didnt get the chance to install them before leave was over, but I will be getting some pics up when I get home this month. As for choices, I was the same as you ultimately I choose what I thought would fit the look of my Jeep best. I cant complain about them, those things are solid and the welds look great, really you cant go wrong with either company it just comes down to your personal preference and the price youre willing to pay.

LOL!

1. I'm a bit bigger than 210 lbs..... more like 287 lbs.
2. I don't have rubi rails as this is an "S" model.
3. I wasn't aware the JCR's were unfinished....hmmm,
Now to find a plating shop, so-as to plate them in copper.

I hope this thread keeps going. I like what I've seen thus far
from All of Your responses. And I'm eager to see what more
folks think about this topic.

Thank You Everyone for Your input.

I have not seen the JCR up close. I really like the Ace rails for these reasons:
  • quality of material and fabrication
  • fit and finish
  • ease of installation
  • the overall appearance
  • my wife gets the step she asked for!

Thumbs up I've got the Ace rails

I've got the ace rails. They work really well for a step, especially for getting into the back of a 2dr (those rare occasions I have the bench seat in). It took me awhile to figure out the best way for me to use them as a step. What I have come up with is to put my right foot on the rail and sort of hoping in butt first then pushing over with my other foot.

I think they look better with the Rubi rails. I guess you could bed-line your rocker panel and it would look good too?

I'm about 260 pounds and the ace rails can hold my weight with no problem. They install by taking off the bolts that attach the body to the frame and then re installing with the rails in there. It makes it a very strong anchor point. I think they make them that you can weld on too .

Here is the video for how to install the ace if you haven't seen it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srlvRZFnpgw Checking out the JCR Install instructions
LINK->http://jcroffroad.com/install_guides...structions.pdf they look like they install with the same bolts. They require bolting into the body that I personally would only do if I was covering something up. It just seems like it is asking for rust issues.

When I got my Ace rails it took about 2 weeks direct. I would call before ordering to see if they are in stock and what the wait time is regardless. There both rather small company's that can get backlogged. The ace rails were such a good deal I didn't feel the need to haggle them about the price, but you can get free shipping from some of the vendors.

Good Luck with what ever you choose
