78 Dana 60 high pinion kingpin swap
This is not a thread to hate on the swap or whether its necessary or anything of the sort. Also, not a build thread just a thread to gain knowledge and learn what others have done.
Well here it is, I bought a dana 60 78 high pinion king pin axle a few weeks back and have torn it apart to rebuild and convert it into the Jku. For my build I am planning on going with the Artec truss with many of their mounts. I am going to be getting a high steer kit with the king pin removal. I know I have to be missing something here. 5.13 gears locker etc will go in too. Running 40x13.50x17 inch toyos on this.
Here is what I am thinking so far and would like to hear input, thoughts, concerns, etc.
Start with the Truss:
Then the Brackets:
Adjustable Parahard mount:
Truss upper link mounts:
Lower control arm bracket:
Coil Correction (will notch and weld onto the truss):
Misc. tabs for shocks and more
Steering:
Now onto the high steer kit with the king pin spring eliminator:
West Texas Red Neck Ram:
Hydro steer cooler:
U joint replacement:
So what am I missing and what are the thoughts?
The other option would to go with a partial truss rather than a full length and then get mounts and brackets from Ballistic offroad rather than running everything off the truss.

Hubs or lockouts? Staying with 8x6.5, or converting to JK bolt pattern? Other than the outers, and assuming you're going to run the same suspension setup (4-control arms and trackbar), you've got pretty much everything. I'll shoot you a PM with a nice easy solution to your ESP/ABS setup, if you're interested.
For what its worth, i'm doing the same swap when i get back from afghanistan---my 79 D60 is sitting in my garage. But i'm going with coilovers O
