Does the part of the tire that makes contact with the road stick out from the stock flares? We have really strict laws about that up here. Looks like it might in this picture

Well guys I went with the 285 70 17 Firestone Destination MTs. I went this size and tire for a couple reasons. But anyway, I am actually very happy with it. I will try to get some pics added in the near future!!! Does anyone have any insight if I should spend the dough for an adjustable front track bar? With only 2.5 inches of lift I understand that it is not necessary but would it improve anything...handling, etc? Thanks guys, youve all been a huge help!

If you measure the difference in the centering of the axle from stock to now, with your 2.5" of lift, you'd see the axle is only off center by about 1/4" to 1/2", depending on some variables. Spending the $ on an adjustable trackbar would really just take $ away from other mods....

I hear what you are saying completely! And I do agree, however, wont that 1/2 inch make the jeep track funny down the road making you feel llike you are always oversteering to correct it? I have only owned the jeep less than two weeks so I am having a hard time deciding whether it is in fact handling worse or if its just me.

I run a 2" BB and 285s. I wish I went bigger since I got my Superchips.

295s or 35s next for me, depending on my wallet ha.

Track funny--Not really. The axle is still "straight", the wheels will just be slightly off-center. No steering correction needed. When you lift the front end of your JK, you will need to re-center the steering anyway. Some lifts give different "real lift" so the numbers thrown out about how far off center your axle will be are just guestimates. The only thing funny is if someone really knows what they are looking for, they will see the passenger side tire sticks out a hair more.

Handling worse--2.5" of lift is pretty mild, and shouldn't really have an adverse affect on handling. Thinking back (meaning driving my wife's stock JKU) i realize how car-like the JK handles out of the box. I drove a pickup before i got my JK, so the fact that it now handles more like a truck doesnt really bother me.
