I have a 2.5" with 37 and I don't rub so you have something wrong.

Would a 2" body lift help? A long with trimming down seam?

2" BL in addition to a 4" lift isnt the way to go. Trim the seams, get adjustables CA's & youll be way happier off-road. If wheeling it isnt its purpose then those mods you want will be fine, otherwise your making a more top heavy rig for no reason. Im running a TF 3" on 37's.
